Global Trade and Container Throughput (update)

The ongoing growth of international trade, both in absolute terms and in relation to global national income, a growth that appears to be leveling off. From 1980 to 2020 the value of exports has grown by a factor of 8.9 times if measured in current dollars, while GDP increased 7.4 times and the population increased 1.7 times. Container throughput grew in proportion with global trade, but at a much higher rate.
