Terminals commonly allocate a portion of their yard space to the storage of reefers. Porte Oceane terminal started its operations in 2008 and is managed by Terminaux de Normandie. The reefer staking area, which is a completely separate part of the terminal, has 438 plugs available, some of which at reefer racks. Reefer racks have a common power supply, and where each reefer can be accessed and monitored through platforms. They require continuous monitoring to ensure that the reefers refrigerating equipment are operational and that the cargo temperature is kept within a specific range. Otherwise, the terminal operator is liable for damages incurred on the refrigerated cargo.
