Logistic Performance Index, 2023

Logistic Performance Index 2023

Source: adapted from World Bank, Logistics Performance Index.

In November 2007, the World Bank published its first report, which ranked 150 nations according to their logistics performance based on a metric labeled the Logistics Performance Index (LPI). Since then, the LPI has been updated every two years to reflect the evolution of national logistics performance. It is an index that has a strong port orientation since it mainly assesses the efficiency of international trade.

The LPI is a composite of a country’s rating across seven criteria: customs clearance, logistics infrastructure, ease of international shipments, logistics competence/internal skillsets and service providers, tracking and tracing capabilities, domestic logistics costs, and timeliness/consistency. The higher its value, the more performant the national logistics.

Countries that are able to connect to the global logistics network have access to vast markets and improved opportunities.
